ADDRESS Interview with Joyce Ozier.

Define your craft in 3 sentences or less. My paintings are abstract.  My paintings are joyful.  My Little Picasso Series paintings are done in collaboration with remarkable young children.

Describe your creative process. Intuitive/ gestural/ fields of colour/ joyful/ large-scale

Where do you find inspiration when experiencing a creative block? You might question whether or not this is ‘inspiration’, but I find the only way to deal with any kind of block is through ACTION…once you act, everything begins to flow.

What advice would you give to young designers / makers / artists / creatives aspiring to make it in their field? a) Don’t do what everyone else is doing. That’s the only way you’ll find your real voice and be noticed. b) Perfectionism kills creativity.

What’s your dream project? Making a large-scale painting for the focal wall in an exquisite piece of architecture, simply and beautifully furnished.

What art / design trends are you excited about? The realization that being an artist is being an entrepreneur.
